Paid Master´s thesis: Quantification and Modelling of Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR)
Biochar carbon removal has the potential to contribute to climate change mitigation by converting biomass into a stable carbon-rich material and storing carbon over extended periods. However, the carbon removal potential depends on the production process, biochar properties and emissions from biomass sourcing, production and use. As part of your work, you will investigate the relationship between biochar production parameters, measured biochar properties and the certified carbon sink under the EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF). Based on literature and experimental data, the requirements of the CRCF Regulation and life cycle assessment, you will quantify carbon storage and associated emissions to determine the net carbon removal potential and identify the key factors influencing the certified carbon sink
