New testing method for log wood stoves will lead to a higher relevancy to practice

The background for the project Stove Testing 2020 is that the current testing standards for log wood stoves were useful for a long time but nowadays are limited tools. These testing standards are unable to distinguish good from very good and the best stoves because efficiency and emissions are measured using optimum operational conditions with no respect of practical operation. Therefore it is not possible to distinguish the quality of different products.
The aim of the project is to develop and evaluate a new testing method which will enable to predict the operational behaviour of log wood stoves in every day operation. For the first time it will be possible to distinguish the quality of stoves in this way.
At the beginning of the development of Stove Testing 2020 the current national and international standards, concerned properties, aims and impacts for log wood stoves will be analysed. Based on this analysed results and the results of a wide range of lab and field measuring tests the new stove testing method will be developed. Afterwards the new stove testing method also will be evaluated wide lab and field measurements.
At the end of the project there will be a new testing method which is very similar to every day operation. Therefore, this new testing method for log wood stoves will be an important regulation and decision making tool for future technological developments and accompanying measures. Furthermore the results of the project will be used for pre-normative work.
